Clamping and Cutting the Umbilical Cord

In most cases, there is no urgency to clamping and cutting the newborn umbilical cord. So long as the newborn remains relatively level with the placenta (avoiding major blood volume shifts in either direction due to gravity), clamping of the cord need not be rushed.
