Colposcopy

Colposcopy is the use of binocular magnification of the cervix, after it has been treated topically with a staining agent to enhance the appearance of abnormalities.

Colposcopy is most often used to evaluate patients with abnormal Pap smears, but may also be useful in examining small lesions in the vagina or on the vulva.

This video demonstrates the use of colposcopy for evaluating abnormalities on the cervix, such as dysplasia, infection, or visible lesions.
