Shoulder Dystocia

Shoulder dystocia means difficulty with delivery of the fetal shoulder during childbirth.

This is a dangerous situation that sometimes results in injuries to the baby, including brachial plexus palsy, fractures, and asphyxia.

This video explains the problem of shoulder dystocia, and demonstrates a number of methods to relieve the obstruction, with the intention of avoiding injury to the fetus.
